History: The Black Russian first appeared in 1949, thanks to the Belgian barman Gustave Tops, who created it at the Hotel Metropole in Brussels in the honor of Perle Mesta, then ambassador of the US in Luxembourg. The cocktail owes its name to the dark periods of the Cold War against the Soviet Union and is considered the ancestor of coffee cocktails.
